Ovens: hosted and self-hosted build machines

An oven is a machine that runs jobs. BuildBakery hosts macOS and Linux ovens. On a paid plan you can also register your own Mac, Linux or Windows machine as a private oven: install the agent with the registration token from the Ovens page and it connects out to BuildBakery over HTTPS, with no inbound ports.

  • The agent updates itself when a new version is released.
  • Macs need Apple silicon and 8 GB of memory or more. VMs are sized to fit, leaving 3 GB for macOS.
  • A new job waits up to 20 seconds for one of your ovens before a hosted oven takes it. oven_pool: own or hosted pins a workflow to one side.
  • Minutes on your own ovens are not metered; hosted minutes per plan are on the pricing page.
  • What each machine type has preinstalled, and how to require a tool or Xcode version: platforms and tools.
